Beijing Ancient Observatory is now grid-locked in Central Beijing. Built in 1442, it housed the instruments needed for the astronomers to provide daily star-gazing reports for the Emperor during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, some of the original instruments have been moved to the Observatory in Nanjing but what remains is stunning.
