The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It resides in the southern constellations of Dorado and Mensa at a distance of 163,000 light-years and spans a diameter of 20 full Moons. It has been observed and recorded by the ancient Persians as well as Amerigo Vespucci and Ferdinand Magellan on his voyage to the new world in 1519. Taken from Siding Springs, Australia.
