A green, quiet path on a tiny, uninhabited island. Satonda Island is a narrow strait away from Tamboro, the location of a most devastating volcanic eruption. In the center of the island is a clear, saltwater lake considered by some to have mystical properties. At sunset, the thousands of fruit bats that inhabit the island fill the sky—a cloud of black and brown flying Chihuahua-looking creatures.
