A colony of over 200 Japanese Macaques that visit the natural hotsprings in Jigokudani, Japan. Some love bathing in the hot springs to stave off the cold, whilst others prefer to stay out of it. Around the monkey park I found them intently fixed on the task of gathering food, their disregard for all the people milling around meant we could watch the colony, with their young Macaques in tow, up close - it was absolutely fascinating.
