This beautiful courtyard and many like this can be found in the heart of the poor, most densely populated "jewish quarter" Erzsebetvaros district of Budapest. The tree in the center is symbolic of desire to reach for light above the shadows of poverty. Here the tree lives, the young, budding shots growing at the top of the grey trunk are like the young people giving hope of a fresh new future of this old city. Yet the new paint does't cover up all the old history.
