Descent into Chengdu, China
I made this image from the cockpit at an altitude of approximately 20,000 ft. as we descended eastwards over the Hengduan Mountains into Chengdu, China. These mountains form the easternmost end of the Tibetan Plateau, and the highest peak, Gongga Shan, rises to over 7,500 m (24,700 ft). I don’t make many images from the cockpit: the curved glass of the windshield and windows often distorts the image, reflections can also be a problem, and contrast is frequently reduced by atmospheric effects.
