Brazil was colonized by europeans on the XVI century. First people came from Portugal. Through the time, the necessity to occupy and develop areas on the southern regions and heading west from the Atlantic Ocean increased and opportunity was given to others. Germans and italians came to the new areas to work and made the south of Brazil a wealthy region. Here was the first german colony in this state and the monument honors the brave people who came with a strong will and now fill our tables.
