Pagrus pagrus
A juvenile common seabream swimming in the Berlengas Natural Reserve. Unfortunately, there are way much more people who have only seen this fish dead on a dish than those who had the chance to see it swimming freely in the wild. And in spite of being extensively fished for human consumption, the IUCN classifies this species as endangered. So, if you ever feel like tasting one, make sure it's bred it comes from aquaculture.
