When driving the lagoon of the Biological Reserve of Duas Bocas by boat I noticed two Wattled Jacanas behaving slightly strange. They kept hopping up and down flapping their wings. I started to take pictures wondering about the birds' behaviour. Only a few seconds later I realised movements in the water. A snake. I did not see it before because of its perfect camouflage. That explained the birds behaviour, protecting their young from the predator without thinking about their own life.
