Hidden Bats
I spotted this pair of bats in a curled up leaf while hiking in Costa Rica. I had been peeking inside the leafs looking for hidden frogs and was quite surprised to come face to face with these bats. These bats are unusual in that they roost head up and that instead of claws they use a suction pad on their wing in order to attach to smooth surfaces like the inside of curled up leafs. The leaf only stays curled up for several days before unfurling, then the bats must find a new shelter.
