Cotton field in Montgomery, Alabama
The urban spread has virtually extinguished most of the cotton fields in the Montgomery, Alabama area, but so far this one remains just northwest of town. Ready for harvest, cotton bowls are open and hanging full of their white gold. But with government subsidies, who knows whether it will ever be picked?
