I had been at the Waldsee -- a small lake in the Hunsruck Mountains -- the entire afternoon and the sun was finally going down, leaving just a few pockets of light between the trees. This footpath along the lake was in deep shadow except for one patch of light. So I set up and stayed focused on the spot. Ten minutes later, this young woman walked into the shot, alone, perhaps taking a shortcut through the woods on her way home from work. I'll never know why. But I knew she would come.
