I was aboard a tour boat out of Oxnard, CA that motored out to Anacapa Islands, Channel Islands NP. I was amazed to see a surfer standing atop a rock in one of Anacapa's islets, so far out to sea. The position of the boat I was on and the angle of the sun rendered the surfer and the islands as silhouettes. I converted the image to black and white as it appears more powerful to me that way. I love how small the figure appears as he stands in the gap, looking westward out into the open ocean.
