The annual Surin Elephant festival in Thailand is a gathering of nearly 300 chained imprisoned Asian Elephants. Their mahouts, or keepers, range from sweet and patient, to downright brutal. There is strong evidence that wild elephants from Burma are being captured for the tourist trade in Thailand, and training methods are barbaric. Please educate yourself about the practice before riding or interacting with captive Asian elephants. Canon PowerShot SX280
