    Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. I tend to like visual contrast in a photo. When looking at this photo for consideration in this assignment it hit me, the contrast also represents the social contrast that almost split a country fighting itself with over 600,000 casualties. Reading a number of personal letters and documents written by Abraham Lincoln through his life I saw the internal contrasts and personal conflicts of the man.
