    Dionysius' Ear is a cave formation in Syracuse Italy. The story goes that the political prisoners of Dionysius "the tyrant" where placed in here because the acoustics of the cave allowed Dionysius to hear the plots being hatched against him and/or so that the screams of prisoners echoed out of the cave as a warning to others
