Meet this endangered species, the green turtle (chelonia mydas) as he comes up for a breath of air. Although their shells are yellow, they are known as the green turtle for the color of their cartilage and fat. The green turtle is one of the largest sea turtles. It's classified as an endangered species because of over harvesting their eggs, the adults are hunted, they get caught in fishing gear and are losing their beach nesting sites.
