Tiny bugs are killing our forests
Almost two-thirds of British Columbia is covered in forest. But the tiny forest insect, pine beetle, has infested huge areas of mature pine, causing colossal amounts of damage on local forests.
There’s one thing that really stops the beetle dead – freezing temperatures. Because, since 1991, we have had only mild winters, mountain pine beetle populations have exploded to epidemic levels.
