Beneath The Beauty
I am always thankful for the opportunities I have as a first generation, female, Bengali American. In this self-portrait, I wanted to reflect on a woman's position and hopelessness in the oppressive Bengali society. What does the future hold for a woman who is considered a second class citizen? Will she be married off against her will? Will she be able to acquire an education? This is a reflection of a fork in the road that I did not take, but one many women are forced down each day.
