Father and mother Sandhill Cranes were finding food in the sanding bank of the pond while their little one was taking a bath and playing in the water; when suddenly! A bird dove in the water next to the baby, which startled everyone. The father crane spread his wings to protect his baby. He went straight to his baby then coaxed it out of the water. It looks like the father is cupping a hand and getting ready to wrap his wings (arms) around his baby.
