Haitian Shoe Merchant
I took this photograph in the shoe bazaar in downtown Gonaives, Haiti. I realized I had very few photos of Haitian women, so I took the initiative and asked this businesswoman if I could take her portrait. Surprisingly, she consented and made my day. She was a friend of the Haitian man that was guiding me through the bazaar that day. After success in gaining her consent, I went on asking many more women that day for the portraits, and some of them said yes.
