Mountain View from Upper Mustang (Nepal)
Mustang (from the Tibetan mun tan (Wylie: smon-thang), Nepali: मुस्तांग, meaning "fertile plain") is the former Kingdom of Lo where Tibetan is still widely spoken and the traditional culture of Tibet remains. This is synonymous with "Upper Mustang", comprising the northern two-thirds of Mustang District of Dhaulagiri Zone. The southern third of the district is called Thak and is the homeland of Thakali people who have their own language and whose culture combines Tibetan and Nepalese elements.
