Tomoca's is a tiny wedge of an Addis Ababa landmark, a coffee shop of the old school with minimal comforts as this picture makes plain. It is a popular meetup for city employees who drop in for a 9 birr (50 cent) macchiato toward mid afternoon. Sadly, it has also become a must-see for big foreign tour groups who have created offense as they thrust flash cameras in the customers' faces. I took this unobtrusively from a stool during a brief moment when a gap opened up in the European throngs.
