Italian tales: the Fire Island Comacina
On June 24, 1169 Comacina (the only island of Como Lake) was razed to the ground by a terrible fire started by Barbarossa who invaded Italy in the hope to seize his power.
Yet his attempt to erase from the face of the Earth the island, that was courageously resisting against the invader, made it eternal!
The memory of the tragic destiny of Comacina was embodied into a play of lights that since then take place every year lighting up the abandoned ground with thousands of magic fireworks.
