    Was shooting in burst mode and managed to catch this Masked Owl just as he was blinking. I've shot a lot of owl images but the eyes have always been wide open. Owls have 3 eyelids. The upper closes when blinking, the lower closes when sleeping the the third is a nictitating membrane which helps clean and protect the surface of the eye.
