African Fire
I took this photo on my return after 5 years. The economic situation in the country had seriously deteriorated, yet the people still had hope for better times ahead... In this picture, we are waiting by the fire for Sadza to cook- a routine of daily life- on a cold night during a powercut in Dangmvura, a township outside, Mutare, Manicaland. Sadza is a staple food made from finely ground mealies (maize) and Dangmvura takes it's name from the Shona word "mvura" which means water.
