Overlooking Mud Lake, Harney Co., OR
Overlooking Mud Lake in Harney County, near a Golden Eagle nesting sight. This is Oregon's High Desert Country, sage brush and juniper scent files the air. Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is across the lake and to the right. Harney County is home to just 7,500 yet it's the size of New Jersey and Rhode Island combined. It is also the 'darkest night sky' area in the lower 48.
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge was established on August 18, 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt as the Lake Malheur
