Thor's Well at Cape Perpetua, Oregon.
Thor's Well at Cape Perpetua, Oregon.
Thor's Well is a hole in the rocky plateau near the edge of the ocean - some say about 20 feet deep. When the tide is high waves gush up out of the hole from below as well as over the rocks at the ocean's edge. It makes for quite a maelstrom. I was lucky enough to time it that I was there at high tide and at sunset but the sun backed out and never showed.
1.3 sec exposure at f/22, iso 100, 16 mm, Nikon D600
