The Ailanthus silkmoth (Samia cynthia) is a saturniid moth. It is used to produce silk fabric but not as much as the silkworm, Bombyx mori. The common name 'Ailanthus silkmoth' refers to the host plant Ailanthus. It originally comes from Asia, but meanwhile it has spread all over the world, anywhere the hostplant has bee planted.
