    Reported by:

After entering the Grand Canyon at 4:30am, my friends and I nearly jogged down the Bright Angel Trail as the first rays of sun began to rise. We were determined to hike to the Colorado river and back in one day, a feat that every park ranger we encountered greatly discouraged us from pursuing. This shot shows my friend Alex entering the final layer of the Canyon, where the exposed rock is millions of years old. We made it to the river at around 8:00am, and were out by 1:30pm. Distance: 19miles.
