Nightlights
A surreal fantasy: Mature prickly pear cactus buds break generally near dawn, open to full bloom, and then close once they are in afternoon shadow. Each flower blooms only one day and then withers away.
I imagined flowers capturing sunlight during the day, staying open at night, glowing and illuminating nearby unopened buds waiting for their day in the sun. The shot was taken in full sun. It is heavily reworked to create the desired effect.
