Red fire bugs, Pyrrhocoris apterus
Firebugs can often be found in groups near the base of tree trunks, on the sunny side.
Firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) spend the winter hidden under stones, under the bark of trees, under the fallen leaves and other hidden places. Early in the spring, after the first warming go out of their winter shelters.
