National park Plitvice Lakes
Founded in 1949, Plitvice Lakes is the oldest national park in southeast Europe. Due to its diversity, presence of relicts, endemic, rare and protected species, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage in 1979. National park consists of 16 lakes grouped into Upper Lakes (12) and Lower Lakes (4). This photo shows the largest waterfall called "Veliki slap" (The big waterfall) whose height reaches the amazing 78 meters.
