We attended this traditional Naadam festival in the far off Gobi Desert of southern Mongolia, a wonderful affair with music, food, archery, wrestling, cross country horse racing, and this event that seemed to harken back hundreds of years to the Mongol cavalry of Chingiss Khan. The rider charges at full gallop and must try to grab a curved stick off the ground. Simple enough? Wild. This one was a near miss.
