Sallie: Floral Nomad of Cape Town
I met Sallie while on a Sunday excursion looking for interesting buildings to photograph in Cape Town. Renowned for its flower selling hubs, I find the satellite florists much more interesting — here you have sweating folk traversing the streets of upper class neighbourhoods every day with flowers found nowhere else in the world, selling them on cheap, potentially illegally, to give to a loved one or brighten up a room. The contradiction? The majority of these flower sellers hardly ever smile.
