These children are from the Hogares Luz y Vida orphanage and all have mental and physical disabilities of various kinds. Although living in urban poor communities near San Cristobal, the children thrive through the care and teachings from Sister Valeriana, and are incredible examples of resilience, dignity, and hope. Despite the odds, the children of Luz y Vida are still able to play in the band – even the hearing impaired play on the beat in the percussion section!
