On the right is a late instar-stage ladybug larvae. These voracious hunter usually feast on aphids but will eat any soft-bodied creature they come across—including their own kind (and human flesh)! This one is using its head attempting to roll this late-stage ladybug pupae to get at what it hopes is the soft underbelly. It has its rear in the air to gain maximum leverage but the pupae is firmly attached to the leaf by the same structure seen at the rear end of the larvae and so did not succeed.
