Sunburnt Country
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains,
of ragged mountain ranges, of drought and flooding rains."
As Dorothea Mackellar describes "her country" and having lived in the Outback for several months experiencing many of its extremes of draught and flood and storms I absolutely feel what she meant. This photo shows the contrast of red dirt and green vegetation around the river as the wet season had just set in on a 300000 acres farm in the Pilbara of Western Australia.
