Fresh Food for the Rich and Poor
The Union Square Greenmarket in New York City is known for bringing fresh produce from upstate New York and surrounding states to central Manhattan. But what few realize is that this produce is easily accessible to disadvantaged individuals as well as top local chefs. EBT/Food Stamps are accepted, and local nonprofits run educational classes--including market walks and cooking demonstrations--to help bring this fresh, healthful food to all.
