Double hope!
Only on Sundays, the Bandarawela council in Sri Lanka's hill country allows poor people to sell produce on the street without a licence. This family from a distant rural area wants to ensure their son doesn't go hungry, so they struggle to town with heavy sacks of beans and pumpkins they have grown. Sometimes families club together to hire ramshackle vehicles to get their wares to town. Not only does young Devinda benefit, but town dwellers can buy cheap healthy local produce for their families.
