Muong Lay is a town located in the northern province of Dien Bien. Muong Lay Town is the town have the lowest population of Vietnam. Currently most of the lowland of Muong Lay town located under reservoir Son La hydropower and Son La lake has an area of approximately 50 km2 and extends tens of kilometers.
