I had just a few moments to line up this image of the rising moon behind this adult bald eagle at the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City, Missouri in the first week of December-the refuge is on the seasonal migratory path for many species of waterfowl, and attracts between 100-300 eagles most years. This is a closer crop of the original, taken with Nikon D3200 and 55-300mm lens. This is probably my favorite wildlife image of the year.
