In Bengali wedding ceremony, Gaye Holud or Tel Holud(a mixture of turmeric powder and mustard oil) ritual plays a pivotal role. This mixture is prepared at groom's place and is partially smeared on groom's body. The left over is sent to bride's home for the same purpose with other gifts including a decorated fish. Later the fish is cooked and served to bride's guest.
