    This is a shot of an American soldier; home after serving three tours of duty in Afghanistan. Even though the event was a happy and festive one, I saw him slip into a world of his own where he became oblivious to anyone or anything around him…even his dog. That’s when I quickly snapped the shot and am still mesmerized by the haunting look in his eyes. Later, I asked him the meaning of Nec Aspera Terrent, (the tattoo on his arm), and was told that it is Latin for “No Fear on Earth.”
