Eastern Grey/Black Squirrels were introduced to Vancouver Island in 1966 from eastern North America. They damage the Garry Oak Trees by stripping bark and eating all the acorns. They eat bulbs of the Camas Flowers, eat bird eggs and nestlings as well as competing and displacing the native red squirrels, and birds for tree cavities.
