This photo was taken in late May, and day two of our five day trek through the southwestern (Bolivian) side of the remote Cordillera Apolobamba range: taking us from Puyu Puyu to Cañuma Cuchu. Most days began bright but ended cloudy and cold as moisture from the Amazon to the northeast rose above the range each afternoon, with this particular day being spectacular due to a shift in the weather from a freak thunderstorm from the Ulla Ulla Reserve to the west.
