They gave us an option- sleep in or watch the sunrise. We were traveling across America in vans, I was one of 50 high school kids- we never got to sleep in. We had stacked our enos 5-high, and I was on the top. Trying to get down without waking my friends was the harder than waking up early- but somehow I managed. Once we got to the rim, we sat along the edge, our feet dangling over "do not sit on railing" signs. The the sun to pierced the horizon, the entire world gasped with us.
