    At times during extreme cold, ice crystals form in the combined with sunlight produces rare and amazing optical phenomena. This sideways rainbow, was in the opinion of local meteorologist's this photo captured a "Sun dog", or possibly a superlateral arc, or a 22 degree halo. I saw this over the lake and grabbed my camera.
