I was lucky enough to make it to The Big Island (Hawaii) and spent a lot of my free time shooting local surfers. Surfing is something I have always wanted to do and after witnessing the sport in its native waters, I am more intent on getting in shape to tackle it. I chose this shot because of the relationship of the surfer to the wave and its translation into black and white. It was not an easy ride for him as he had to stay ahead of the breaking wave or get pounded.
