On the Wall
Hadrian's Wall stretches for more than 70 miles. You can hike along side it for most of that distance, but this is the only spot where you can actually walk on top of the wall (or so the lady at the information center informed me). This stretch of wall runs through a small wooded area near Housesteads Roman Fort.
This isn't the image that I imagined when thinking of Hadrian's Wall; it looks more like a normal country trail than an ancient Roman fortification. Still a pleasant walk, though!
